JMS Family Update - February 12, 2025

Greetings Jacques Families,

As we celebrate Valentine's Day this Friday, I wanted to take a moment to extend my warmest wishes to you and your families.  In our school community, love manifests itself in many ways. It's evident in the bonds between students and teachers, the support and encouragement you provide to your children each day, and in the kindness and compassion that permeate our halls.

As we navigate through the challenges and joys of the school year together, I am continually inspired by the love and dedication I see from each of you. Your commitment to your child's education and well-being is truly remarkable, and it's a privilege to partner with you on this journey.

Read Across America Week at JMS

Next week, we are thrilled to celebrate Read Across America Week—a special time to embrace the joy of reading and the power of stories! This is a national celebration that coincides with the famed children’s author, Dr. Seuss.  Throughout the week, we will welcome community guest readers to share their love of books with our students. To make the week even more exciting, we’ll wrap up with a special visit from Ivy the Very Determined Dog, along with authors Chris and Maureen Harrington, reminding us all to believe in our superpowers!

We invite students to join in the fun by participating in our themed reading days:

Monday 2/17 - Book Character Day – Dress up as your favorite book character and bring your imagination to life!
Tuesday 2/18 - Gerald vs. Piggie Day – Represent your favorite character from Mo Willems’ Elephant & Piggie series by wearing gray (for Gerald) or pink (for Piggie)!
Wednesday 2/19 - Wacky Wednesday – Get silly with mismatched outfits, backward clothes, or a wild hairstyle!
Thursday 2/20 - Couch Potato Day – Stay cozy and comfy by wearing your favorite pajamas to school!
Friday 2/21 - Believe in Your SuperPowers Day – Celebrate determination and resilience with superhero gear in honor of Ivy the Very Determined Dog’s visit!

We can't wait for a week full of reading, creativity, and fun! Thank you for supporting a love of literacy in our school community.
