Week 19
Good Afternoon JMS Families,
I enjoy the energy that a new year brings, and am looking forward to a year filled with growth, learning, and resiliency. We continue to strive to work in partnership with you to make learning a successful and rewarding experience. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or myself regarding concerns and/or questions.
Congratulations!
Please join me in congratulating our school social worker Mrs. Tracey Holland. She has received a CHART (Character and Resiliency Together) Award! The CHART Award is a special recognition for school educators who personally demonstrate and model character and resiliency. The award was created this year in honor of the 30th anniversary of the New Hampshire Governor’s Council on Physical Activity and Health (GCPAH). This inaugural award is presented by GCPAH in collaboration with the YMCA Alliance of Northern New England and the New Hampshire Department of Education. Congratulations to Mrs. Holland and the amazing work she does within our Jacques Memorial School Community!
Student Social Strengths Screener
Jacques Memorial School is committed to every student's academic growth as well as their social emotional and behavioral growth. It is our shared goal that our students develop the skills required to regulate their emotions, develop positive relationships and make responsible decisions. As part of this process, we are asking all parents to complete a Student Social Strengths Screener.
If you have not yet done so please take some time to complete this short survey. Please click on the link below. Thank you to all parents and guardians who have done so already!

“Eat the Rainbow” Challenge
Throughout the month of January students and staff are encouraged to eat the rainbow of healthy fruits and vegetables. This is “Yellow Orange” week and students are offered and encouraged to try and provided by our food service department. Here is the schedule for the remainder of January:
1/16: Yellow/Orange
1/23: Green
1/30: Blue
Word Play
Last month over 35 families attended our Jacques Memorial Word Play Event. This fun-filled evening provided students and their caregivers activities with oral language development as a focus. Students played with legos, picture games, story puppets, movement activities, and even got to enjoy pizza with their families. In the spirit of continuing oral language skills, I am sharing with you more ideas. The theme of “Eat the Rainbow” can be used as a springboard for conversations with your child. "Where do you think an orange carrot comes from? "What is your favorite green food and why?" Attached to this email are even more ideas to help develop language skills.
Early Release
Students will be dismissed early on Wednesday, January 25, 2023. Students will be dismissed at 12:45 after lunch is served. Please make any changes to your child’s dismissal plan using the Parent Pick-up Patrol system.
January Birthday Celebration

Thank you all for your continued support and partnership in your child’s education!
Sincerely,
Tim O’Connell
