Week 29

Greetings Jacques families!

Let's hope the snow is over for the year and that we can finally get on to spring weather! We are officially in the last trimester of the school year and before we know it summer will be here.  Please make sure you communicate changes for dismissal plans as early as possible. Late changes are difficult to communicate and distract from learning at the end of the day.  Thank you for reading this week's update.

Autism Awareness - April is Autism Awareness Month.  Jacques Memorial School is participating in a fundraiser to support the research and families that have children with Autism. We hope to raise funds and  make a donation to the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism (https://www.flutiefoundation.org/)  Join the TLC Program at JMS in showing your understanding, acceptance, and love of autism by buying a puzzle piece. These will be sent home with students later this week.  All puzzle pieces will be displayed in the hallway at Jaguar Junction.

We will kick off the fundraiser this Friday, April 7th 2023.   All students and staff are encouraged to to wear blue on Friday, April 7th to show their support for those that have been impacted by Autism.  All popcorn sales on Friday April 7th will be donated to the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism.  Thank you in advance for your support!

Bikes for Books - Bikes for Books is a reading incentive program created by the Masons for children in elementary schools in order to help support literacy programs in our schools. The Milford Masonic Temple Association, under the direction of Artie Dunham, is sponsoring this program at both the Heron Pond Elementary School and the Jacques Memorial School.

The Bikes for Books program is straightforward.  Students are asked to read as many books as they can from now until Friday, June 2nd Students fill out an entry form, for each book that they read.  The entry form includes the name of the book and the author, as well as the student’s name, grade and teacher’s name.  The student also fills out a short description of the book.  After completing the entry form, please press “Submit”.  The more books they read, the better opportunity they have to be chosen to receive a new bike! While student participation is not mandatory, I am sure that it will support and encourage reading!

Please click the link below to submit an entry form.
